MIGRATION is a new recording of original music featuring JOHN MENEGON on bass, vocals & compositions, LEO GENOVESE on piano, and HARVEY SORGEN on drums, The first three pieces (Belongings, The Return, and  Landed) are a trilogy written for people on the move throughout the world, and especially in the United States. The compositions Jack of Hearts and One Two & Three are a dedication to the late, great drummerJack DeJohnette. Love Bird  is a ballad with lyrics written by vocalist Teri Roiger. Menegon sings on three of the tunes: The Return, Jack of Hearts, and Love Bird. This recording presents a palette for all three musicians to explore with trust, deep listening, and an overall display of joy. As a bassist & composer, Menegon looks for deep meaning in every composition. Leo and Harvey enhance every note, helping to communicate to the audience what it is to be respectful and honest, and to fulfill our dreams as artists.

John Menegon is a Jazz Bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and educator. He began his career in Montreal, and after relocating to New York, he played bass for 10+ years with two legendary tenor saxophonists, Dewey Redman and David “Fathead” Newman. Menegon has released eight CDs as a bandleader featuring Dewey Redman, Frank Kimbrough, Jean-Michel Pilc, Joel Frahm, Matt Wilson, Kenny Burrell, Jack DeJohnette, Teri Roiger, John di Martino, John Gunther, Tineke Postma, Leo Genovese, Harvey Sorgen, and others. He currently plays Bass with jazz legend Joe Lovano's “Joyous Encounters” Quartet. Menegon released his ninth recording August 7 (2026) titled MIGRATION.
